Here are my floor plans to date. I wanted to get these uploaded so we could discuss these at 8:20. I plan on explaining the process in a comment later (as well as what I have learned from my discussion with Enno).
Annie, I am starting to see your filtering Idea working vertically through your building, but the filters seem to be very "mechanical" in their nature.
As you approach the site in section with multiple little gestures, I think the idea of filtered leaves is more successful.
I think your floor plate would benefit from a more "Swiss Cheese" effect in which light has to travel through multiple small holes vertically, perhaps not aligned with those below, so that the effect at ground level is that of soft filtered light, as opposed to large swaths, which do not effectively act as a filter.
A challenge is in keeping the upper floors filtered enough to protect from harsh light while not allowing the bottom floors to get painfully dark.
I am currently pursing my Masters of Architecture from the BAC and studying for LEED certification. Originally from Washington state, I attended University of Utah and received my BS in Architectural Studies in 2006. With that degree complete, I decided to move to the East Coast. I am now living in the Boston area working as an architectural intern doing a large variety of work. I now looking to expand my knowledge of architecture and seeking a job in a large firm with a diverse portfolio.

One other thing.
At your first floor, originally you had wanted to reveal some link to the subway below.
Why not make a "skylight" in the floor to allow the filtered light, past your building into the subterranean depths below?
